THE ORIGINAL TONGUES AND WITH THE FORMER AND LATER
TRANSLATIONS DILIGENTLY COMPARED AND REVISED
The King James Version of the Bible, produced in 1611 and beloved by millions down through the ages for its beauty and dignity, has been described as "one of the glories of the English tongue." Thomas Babington Macaulay said the English Bible was "a book which, if everything else in our language should perish, would alone suffice to show the whole extent of its beauty and power." But this monumental work is now in danger of being abandoned because of the large number of textual inaccuracies that modern Biblical scholarship has revealed. Happily, this new revision has been produced with all the errors corrected while still retaining the beauties of the language as found in the original Authorized Version. Now readers can enjoy what is perhaps the greatest work of literature in the English language, and still be assured that the text they are reading is also as accurate and reliable as modern scholarship can determine.
