The editor is unable to find any reference to this "Animated Address" in Jefferson's Autobiography or in the standard biographies of Thomas Jefferson. There is no paper in the writings of Jefferson that the editor is familiar with that might be the Address suggested. Until further research determines the question more definatively, the story of the Address should be considered possibly apocryphal.
