JEFFERSON'S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESSES

> Hi. I am doing an essay for my History class. I have to report on Thomas > Jefferson's State of the Union Address. And I was wondering if anything > was > made or talked about or anything at all do to with what was said in the > address. Anything related to what I'm asking would be greatly appreciated. Your best move is to go to Dumas Malone's book, "Jefferson the President, first term." (Volume 4 of "Jefferson and His Time") Beginning on page 16 is a chapter on the First Inaugural address. That should tell you all you need to know. That book should be available in any library. Jefferson's addresses were not called "State of the Union" addresses. He gave two inaugural addresses, and also an "Annual Address" every year he was president. The Inaugural Addresses were the best known. The Annual Addresses were the equivalent of what we now call State of the Union addresses.
